Caitlin crowned princess for one magical day

Princess Caitlin

Five year old Caitlin Dixon, from Stockton-on-Tees, has always dreamed of becoming a princess. Caitlin, who has a brain tumour, was treated by Make-A-Wish to a day of pomp and pageantry in the fairy-tale setting of Hazlewood Castle near Leeds.

Parents Claire and Paul, together with younger sister Aimmee, aged one, accompanied Caitlin on her visit to the castle. Following a breakfast feast fit for a princess, Caitlin was treated to a morning of pampering by a professional beautician in the castle’s own spa. Further royal treatment was lavished on Caitlin as she was presented with a special outfit complete with dress, tiara, shoes and necklace.

A majestic horse-drawn carriage was then on-hand to whisk Caitlin away for an afternoon tea, that included her own ‘princess cake’. In the evening, dinner at the castle drew the Dixon family’s fairytale day to a close.

Caitlin’s mum Claire said, “We couldn’t have done anything like this for her. She was so excited when she heard the horse’s hooves and knew a carriage awaited her. Seeing her face said it all. It was all so brilliant.”
